What does Employment Hero Payroll do?
Employment Hero offers cloud payroll and workforce tools. Its payroll product supports pay runs, employee self-service, leave and payroll reporting, with rostering and time-and-attendance features depending on the product and plan. Payroll and the broader HR platform are related products with different setup requirements.
Where it fits
Worth considering when payroll needs to work alongside workforce scheduling and employee records. timepilot fits where some source hours still arrive as paper or files and need a central review.
What to check first
Identify the actual payroll product and business, not just the HR login. Confirm available features and access before deciding how externally reviewed hours should enter the pay run.

Make outside hours part of the conversation.
Hours from outside the platform
Paper crew sheets and supplier spreadsheets often arrive alongside existing payroll feeds. Identify which hours are new before adding them to the selected business.
The right work at the right location
A person’s assigned location and work types determine how hours belong in payroll. Keep those decisions visible when a crew moves between sites.

Payroll business
Confirm the Australian payroll business and authorised access, rather than assuming an HR login includes payroll.
Work types and pay categories
These are different payroll dimensions. Keep their namespaces distinct even where an ID or label looks the same.
Assigned location
Use a location assigned to the selected employee. Resolve unfamiliar or missing assignments before approval.
Bring the review together.
Bring outside hours together
Use supported source formats and identify any existing HR or time feeds.
Make identity explicit
Preview people in the selected payroll business and link existing Employees deliberately.
Approve a scoped hand-off
Review category and location assignments, approve the work and compare existing entries before transfer.
Keep existing payroll protected.
Existing payroll and time feeds remain part of the decision. Add-only protects unrelated work. Locked or unknown states stay blocked. Replacement requires a precise employee/date/earning/location preview and explicit confirmation; payroll does not get automatically unlocked.
Corrections after approval require another review. An uncertain delivery must be reconciled before retrying. Pay calculation and finalisation remain in your payroll system.

Your questions, answered.
Does an Employment Hero HR login qualify?
HR and Payroll are separate products with separate access. Confirm the payroll product and authorised Australian business.
Is KeyPay another connection?
KeyPay is the former payroll brand in this family. Shared technology does not prove access to every branded payroll business.
Will imported Employees become app users?
No. Payroll identity matching and timepilot team access are separate decisions.
